TAMPA, Fla. — A police pursuit that ended in a crash in Ybor City early Saturday morning left four people dead and 11 others injured, according to the Tampa Police Department.

Around 12:40 a.m., TPD said its air service unit was monitoring a vehicle driving recklessly on I-275.

"The driver continued to drive recklessly at a high rate of speed and exited the interstate at Doyle Carlton Drive," TPD said in a release.

The police department said the vehicle is believed to have been seen racing on Hillsborough Avenue near 22nd Street.

As TPD's air service unit continued to monitor the vehicle, around 12:45 a.m., TPD said officers and Florida Highway Patrol troopers located the vehicle in the area of Palm Avenue and Nebraska Avenue
