The latest batch of ballots counted in the mail-only Nov. 4 special recall election for Mesa District 2 Councilmember Julie Spilsbury are in and Dorean Taylor, who seeks to take her seat, has 9,243 votes to Spilsbury’s 8,548.

The unofficial results were last updated by Maricopa County Elections at 6:59 p.m. Nov. 6.

Spilsbury’s term ends in January 2029. If she loses the recall election, Taylor would fill the remainder of her term.

Elected to the Mesa City Council in August 2020, Spilsbury began her first term representing District 2 in January 2021. She was re-elected for a second term in November 2024.
