A woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter on Thursday after a stabbing that left a 53-year-old woman dead in Binscarth, Russell RCMP say.

Russell RCMP were sent to a residence in Binscarth at around 11 a.m. on Monday after a report of an unresponsive woman.

When officers got to the residence, they found a woman with a life-threatening injury, Russell RCMP said in a news release on Friday.

Emergency medical services arrived, and the woman was pronounced dead shortly after, the release said.

Mounties said her death was deemed a homicide.

Russell RCMP, RCMP Major Crime Services, Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) and support units helped in the investigation.
