Veteran army marksman Ravinder Singh fired India to glory on the opening day of the ISSF World Championships (Pistol/Rifle), clinching individual gold and team silver in the 50m free pistol event on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Havildar from Bishnah, Jammu & Kashmir, produced a stellar performance to top the field with a score of 569, finishing ahead of South Korea’s Kim Cheongyong (556) and Anton Aristarkhov (AIN, 556).

For Ravinder, who won a bronze medal at the 2023 Worlds in Baku, this marks the biggest milestone of his shooting career. After a modest start with a 93, he found his rhythm with rounds of 98, 94, 95, 93, and 96, sealing the title in style.

The Indian team of Ravinder (569), Kamaljeet (540), and Yogesh Kumar (537) also bagged the team silver with a combined score of 1646,
