A 41-year-old man suspected of stealing two Yorkshire Terriers in Palm Springs with the possible intent to collect money as a reward was in custody, while his accomplice remains at large.

Jose Marta Serrano of Palm Springs was booked into Benoit Detention Center in Indio Thursday on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime, grand theft and a revocation hearing, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

He is being held without bail.

On Oct. 17, about 10:30 a.m., the pair were captured on video allegedly picking up the two dogs that had “wandered away from their home after a door was left open in the 700 block of San Lorenzo Road,” police said.
