ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Rochester Branch of the NAACP is celebrating its 60th anniversary with the 2025 Freedom Fund Banquet on November 15. Attorney General Keith Ellison will deliver the keynote address at this milestone event, which highlights the ongoing importance of freedom, human rights, and social justice.
Dr. Walé Elegbede, President of the Rochester Branch, emphasized the continuing relevance of their mission. “While progress has been made, the fierce urgency of now, as Dr. King described, calls us to action,” Elegbede said.
The banquet will also feature speeches from mayors Shaundel Washington-Spivey, Hollies Winston, and Rosyln Harmon—the first Black mayors in their respective cities. Their achievements will inspire the Rochester community as examples of progress.
