SAINT PAUL — Full SNAP benefits have been restored for November to Minnesotans and Americans nationwide following a successful lawsuit led by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison. The lawsuit, involving 26 states, challenged the Trump Administration's suspension of benefits during the federal government shutdown.
Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families announced that benefits will reflect on EBT cards as soon as today, providing relief to approximately 440,000 Minnesotans. This includes about 180,000 children, 67,000 seniors, and 52,000 people with disabilities who rely on SNAP benefits monthly.
Ellison expressed relief over the legal victory but criticized the situation, stating, "It should never have come to this. Donald Trump chose to hold hungry Minnesotans hostage.
