Iowa football was struggling to get anything going offensively in the first half vs. Oregon , especially through the air.
Then, after previously completing just one pass for 3 yards, quarterback Mark Gronowski found receiver Jacob Gill for a 38-yard bomb, setting up an easy 3-yard TD pass to tight end DJ Vonnahme on the next play.
The score cut the Hawkeyes ' deficit to 9-7 and ignited a Kinnick Stadium crowd that was beginning to feel the game getting away from their team.
The breakthrough play came after Gronowski converted a 4th-and-1 QB sneak, extending the drive that resulted in a much-needed TD.
The 38-yard pass was the longest play by either team through the first 27 minutes of the first half.
