INDIANAPOLIS — There is a reason this program is considered one the best in Indiana.
No. 1 Barr-Reeve defeated No. 3 Benton Central in five sets (18-25, 25-18, 25-23, 17-25, 15-10) to win the Class 2A high school volleyball state championship on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Vikings move into a tie for ninth all-time in IHSAA history with four state titles.
This has an argument for the best match among Barr-Reeve's seven trips to the state finals. A hold-your-breath thriller that went the distance (it lasted roughly two-and-a-half hours) between two evenly matched teams. The Vikings only trailed once in the final set before building a five-point lead.
Barr-Reeve (33-5) won eight of the final 12 points, finally securing the crown on a Joslyn Knepp block at the net.
