BUFFALO, N.Y. — Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins has won over many fans across Western New York with what he's done in the field. Now, he's going to be recognized for what he does away from it.

Acting Buffalo Mayor Chris Scanlon recently announced that the offensive tackle will receive the Key to the City during a public celebration in Niagara Square on Friday.

"Dion Dawkins represents everything that makes Buffalo special — hard work, heart, and a commitment to lifting others up," Scanlon said Friday in a statement, announcing the news.

"On and off the field, he’s been a role model to our young people and a champion for our community. This Key to the City is a symbol of our gratitude for all he’s done and continues to do to make Buffalo a better place for everyone."
