LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of this week’s fatal crash. Following the crash the FAA, UPS, and FedEx temporarily grounds all MD-11 aircraft Saturday.
UPS temporarily grounds all MD-11 aircraft “effective immediately,” citing a statement made “at the recommendation of the aircraft manufacturer.”
Boeing said safety is the top priority, recommending that "the three operators of the MD-11 freighter ... suspend flight operations while additional engineering analysis is performed," adding, "This recommendation was made in an abundance of caution and we will continue coordinating with the FAA on this matter."
According to the Associated Press, FedEx will also ground its MD-11 planes.
