You can expect the unexpected in college football. Most wouldn’t have expected a shootout between Alabama State football and Texas Southern in Week 11.
The Hornets entered the game without quarterback Andrew Body due to a shoulder injury sustained a week prior against Prairie View A&M. Jacksonville State transfer Te’Sean Smoot got the start under center and managed to lead the Hornets to a 42-24 win over the Tigers.
Texas Southern’s offense protected the football and dominated time of the possession, but with just enough stops, Alabama State was able to hang to keep pace in the SWAC East.
