ELM MOTT, Texas (KWTX) — An elderly couple married 68 years died Tuesday when their car was hit while leaving a polling location on Election Day, sources said.
Kenneth Ramsey, 90, and his wife Bernice, 86, died at the scene just south of Elm Mott at 5:30 p.m.
A man who stopped to render aid said the couple had just voted and were leaving the polling location at a church south of Elm Mott when the accident happened.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Ramseys’ Chrysler Town & Country minivan pulled out in front of an F-250 pickup truck traveling southbound and failed to yield the right of way.
Bernice, who was driving, and her husband were pronounced dead at the scene.
An online obituary said Kenneth was a member of the National Guard and helped with rescue efforts
