The assumption is that they already own a home and so wouldn't be affected by rising rents .

But that's the the case, according to manager of IRT Age Matters charity Natasha Debsieh.

"I know this is a really fantastic intergenerational debate - that most of the people are affluently living in their own home and that the younger generation will never get into," Ms Debsieh said.
