set for this weekend have been cut at 40 major U.S. airports as part of the Federal Aviation Administration's effort to phase in 10% reductions because of the government shutdown.

The FAA is to take pressure off air traffic controllers, who are federal employees and have been working without pay during the shutdown.
As part of the process, United Airlines is on its website. As of Saturday, it showed which United flights have been canceled through Tuesday, Nov. 11.
Many of the canceled flights are between Houston and other cities in Texas. Routes between Houston and Dallas/Fort Worth were canceled seven times and Houston and Austin were canceled six times.
