It’s notable that President Donald Trump hasn’t weighed in on the Michigan Republican gubernatorial primary to help clear the field, shore up fundraising behind one candidate and establish momentum.
Last week he issued more than 50 endorsements for Republican candidates nationwide, largely in 2026 midterm races across the country, but not many governors.
Either Trump doesn’t (yet) know on whom to bet, or he views his backing as more of a liability than a help in this race.
