The air quality in Delhi remained at the upper end of the ‘very poor’ category on Sunday, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 391, keeping the city in the red zone, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
A shallow layer of smog blanketed the city as temperatures dipped to 11 degrees Celsius, significantly below the normal range, marking the onset of winter.
Most monitoring stations in the national capital recorded AQI levels in the ‘severe’ category, with Bawana recording the highest at 436. Burari, Ashok Vihar, Alipur, and Anand Vihar registered 430, 416, 414, and 416, respectively. This mirrors Saturday’s toxic air conditions , when pollution levels crossed 400 in several areas, though the overall AQI was slightly lower at 361.
