The Chicago Bears are in a fight for a playoff spot in the NFC, and they’re going to get a big boost to their offense on Sunday.
D'Andre Swift, who missed last week in a win over the Cincinnati Bengals and was questionable this week due to a groin injury and personal reasons, is expected to play on Sunday when the 5-3 Bears take on the New York Giants.
Before getting slowed down in a loss to the Ravens, Swift was putting together one of the best seasons of his career, with back-to-back games going for over 100 yards. Against Washington, he rushed for 108 yards while catching for an extra 67 through the air. The next week, versus the New Orleans Saints, it was another slashing of a defensive front, running for 124 yards and a touchdown.
In his place, Kyle Monangai dominated against Cincy, one of the worst defenses in the league. The backup put up 176 yards on the ground. This week, look for Monangai and Swift to continue their stampede against a Giants run defense, which is graded as one of the worst in the NFL. Even if Swift can’t pull full duty, the one-two punch of him and Monangai could be the difference in the Bears putting themselves in a playoff position.
