CLEARWATER, Fla. — A 74-year-old man was rescued from a burning car Friday afternoon with the help of quick-thinking good Samaritans.
It happened on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard in Clearwater. Video provided by the Clearwater Police Department shows a black Porsche engulfed in flames in the right eastbound lane as two people pull the man from the car and drag him away to safety. Two other people used fire extinguishers to help contain the flames before firefighters arrived at the scene.
The video shows crews containing the fire as smoke continued blazing from the car.
Police said the man had been sitting in the Porsche as it burned, unable to get himself out, but the good Samaritans helped save his life.
The man was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment.
