COLUMBIA, Mo. — Joplin senior Ava Doll wrapped up her high school cross country career in the best way possible, becoming the first Joplin Eagle (male or female) to win a state title in the event. She finished first at the MSHSAA Class 5 Girls' Cross Country Championships Friday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
Doll is in rarified air with the state title — just a handful of local athletes have achieved what Doll did Friday in Columbia. She is the first local runner to win the state title in any class in 15 years. ×
