IOWA CITY, Iowa – As Atticus Sappington lined up with 7 seconds left on the game clock to attempt a 39-yard field goal – the result of which would determine Oregon's fate – Noah Whittington stood anxious on the sideline, head down and eyes closed.
Then quarterback Dante Moore draped an arm across the running back's shoulder pads and told him to lift his head up and watch his teammate.
"I just thought about it, like, why wouldn't I watch?" Whittington said. "I've seen Atticus make this kick 100 times in practice."
