OMAHA, Neb. — Jack Kernan wasn't exactly sure how his first collegiate goal went in the net.
"Might have been shin pad," the UND freshman said. "But it says a goal."
That summed up UND's 4-1 win over Omaha in the series finale at Baxter Arena.
The Fighting Hawks gave up a season-high 35 shots on goal, but Anthony Menghini and Cole Reschny threw pucks off of Omaha defenders for goals, Kernan got a third to go in unconventional fashion and senior goaltender Gibson Homer did the rest.
Homer stopped 34 shots to grab his first win in three weeks as the Fighting Hawks completed a two-game sweep of the Mavericks.
