155 police officers in our region are on stress, stress-related or mental health leave, according to data released by West Midlands Police. The figures are taken from sickness based August 1, provided after a freedom of information request published on the force's website last month.

The request asked how many police officers are on stress, stress-related or mental health leave, and for it to be broken down into numbers for those on leave for over a week, two weeks and a month.

The data reveals 148 officers have been on leave for more than seven days, 142 have been on leave for more than two weeks and 104 have been on leave for more than one month.

It was also revealed the longest a police officer who is currently still off work has been on this type of leave is for 544 days.
