The undefeated Cedar High School football team continued its march toward the state championship on Friday morning as the Reds defeated the Juab Wasps 23-16 in the 3A semifinals.

Playing in front of a sizable hometown crowd at Southern Utah University, Cedar faced a tough Juab squad they’d come from behind to defeat 41-35 in Nephi on Oct. 10.

Friday’s semifinal matchup featured considerably less offensive firepower, particularly in the first half.

Cedar kicker Cody Stevenson made a 29-yard field goal to give the Reds a 3-0 lead midway through the first period. That score stood until just before halftime, as both teams repeatedly came up short, threw an interception and had a touchdown called back due to a penalty.
