The new passenger terminal at Hanimaadhoo International Airport is set to be inaugurated today evening, marking a significant milestone in the northern region’s aviation infrastructure development.

According to the Maldivian government, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu will be attending the inauguration of New Aviation Terminal.

Built with funding from an Indian line of credit, the Hanimaadhoo Airport expansion is worth about USD 136 million (roughly MVR 2 billion). It includes a 2.7-kilometre runway that can handle larger aircraft, a modern terminal capable of serving 1.3 million passengers annually, and new cargo, control tower, and fuel facilities.
