There will be no poppy drop at this year's Bedworth Armistice Day Parade, its chairman has confirmed. It became a tradition that an aeroplane drops thousands of red poppies over the town centre during the annual service.
The last time this took place was in 2022 and was due to take place in 2023, but it was cancelled at the eleventh hour. Last year, there was no proper drop as the committee struggled to find a pilot and aeroplane to carry out the spectacle.
They have faced similar issues again this year, but Ken Whitehead, committee chair, said they they remain hopeful that it can be reinstated in the future. In the meantime, they do have other poppy features for locals to look out for.
