Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed around 20,000 farmers at Global Vikas Trust’s Krishikul in Beed, Maharashtra, stressing that a farmer is not merely a cultivator but the nation’s “Annadaata.”
He praised GVT for promoting sustainable models that raised farmers’ income through silk, natural, and water-based farming. Chouhan announced immediate compensation for crop losses and assured additional support through the NDRF and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
He said climate change demands climate-resilient seeds and hinted at direct fertiliser subsidy transfers. Urging a move from chemical to cow-based natural farming, he advised farmers to adopt integrated approaches with horticulture, fisheries, and animal husbandry for higher income and resilience.
