The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has raised objections over the admission process at the Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence in Jammu and Kashmir’s Katra, claiming that the majority of students enrolled in the first batch belong to the Muslim community.
The outfit further urged the Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take cognisance of the matter, news agency PTI reported.
In a letter addressed to the LG on November 1, VHP general secretary Bajrang Bagra claimed that out of the first batch of 50 students, only six are Hindus, while 44 are Muslims. He further alleged that a sizeable portion of the nursing college’s faculty members are either Muslims or Christians.
