The wealthy owners of a hotel in Sutton Coldfield have paid themselves over £5 million out of public funds after turning the venue over to house asylum seekers , BirminghamLive can exclusively reveal today.
The former Ramada hotel , also known as Penns Hall, in Penns Lane, Walmley, has been operating as an asylum hotel since 2021 when the owners seized the chance to sign up with accommodation providers Serco, housing up to 340 migrants at a time.
The level of profits and payouts made since have been described as 'obscene' by charity Refugee Action, which supports asylum seekers living in hotel accommodation.
