SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A man was shot and killed early Saturday morning near the Ocean Beach Pier, prompting a large police response and an ongoing homicide investigation.

According to San Diego Police, the shooting happened just after midnight near the shoreline. When officers arrived, they found a man in his 30s suffering from gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

Police say the victim is a Hispanic man in his 30s. His name has not yet been released pending family notification.

Investigators believe the shooting involved a group of at least four people, two men and two women, all Hispanic and between 25 and 30 years old, who had been hanging out in the pier parking lot before walking south toward the beach.
