BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The William & Mary football team earned a thrilling 30-27 comeback victory in overtime at Campbell on Saturday afternoon.
Quarterback Tyler Hughes scored the game-winning touchdown with a 6-yard run in the extra session after Campell (2-8, 2-4) converted a 23-yard field goal to open overtime.
W&M (6-4, 5-2) totaled 11 points in the final two minutes of regulation for force overtime, as running back Rashad Raymond found the end zone on a 2-yard run with 1:51 remaining and Hughes connected with tight end Haven Mullins on a 2-point conversion.
Linebacker Jake Worthen then recovered Sam Braidwood’s ensuing onside kick, and Keegan Shackford knotted the score at 24-24 with a 38-yard field goal with just 0:01 remaining. The game-tying kick was Shackford’s third field goal o
