Wetherspoons is to shut down a massively popular UK pub - with a string of others set to follow. Wetherspoons pub The Water Gate on The Strand in Barnstaple is set to close today.
One punter at the pub, which is operated by JD Wetherspoon, the UK's largest pub chain, branded it “utterly ridiculous” and said: “This part of North London is hardly blessed with many Spoons to begin with.”
While another said: “What a shame. used to go there loads in college loved the ‘roof terrace’ upstairs.” Another fan of the location said they were left “gutted” after hearing the news.
