Pakistani batsman Hasan Nawaz was released from the national one-day and T20 squads on Sunday due to poor form for the series against Sri Lanka and the Tri-series. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Hasan Nawaz has been directed to participate in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy first-class tournament.

The PCB stated that opener Fakhar Zaman would replace Hasan in the T20 squad for the Tri-series involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, starting November 17. However, no replacement will be made for Hasan in the ODI squad for the three-match series against Sri Lanka, beginning November 11 in Rawalpindi, since Abdul Samad is already playing for the Pakistan Shaheens in the Asia Cup rising stars. Samad had been previously selected for the Tri-series.
