Tarn Taran sees the largest-ever CAPF deployment for any by-poll

Tarn Taran (Punjab), November 9, 2025: In a first for any by-election in the country, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has deployed a record 12 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to ensure peaceful polling in the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election scheduled for November 11.

Given Tarn Taran’s sensitive border location, the ECI has placed the constituency under the highest level of security.

Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C informed that 12 Companies of Central armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed in the Assembly Constituency, which is one of the largest deployment of CAPF ever by ECI in any bye election.
