IOWA CITY — When Mark Gronowski skipped into the south end zone in the final 2 minutes against No. 9 Oregon, it felt like an iconic moment in Iowa football history.

Kinnick Stadium, packed with 69,250 rain-soaked fans, was up for grabs. Gronowski’s moment and celebration had given the Hawkeyes an unthinkable lead in the most clutch way possible, a fourth-and-goal call from the 3-yard line that ended with six euphoric points.

“I was overwhelmed with emotion there. It was such a good feeling, having the whole crowd behind me, having the whole team behind me,” Gronowski said. “I really thought we won the game in that moment, just because we have such a great defense.”
