A big cooldown comes in next week. Clouds are increasing today as the next system approaches from the southwest.

Most of the morning stays dry, but showers will develop through the afternoon and early evening, spreading north across the region. Rain will be light to moderate and taper off late tonight, with the heaviest activity likely toward the Cape and Islands where a brief rumble of thunder is possible.

Temperatures will top out in the 50s for most, right where we should be this time of year with average highs in the mid 50s.

Monday will stay unsettled with a low pressure moving overhead. Rain chances taper off Monday evening, and then the focus shifts to the cold.
