LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's NuLu neighborhood was dressed in red, white and blue Saturday for the city's 15th annual Veterans Day Parade as music, marching and military vehicles flooded the streets.

“They serve not for fame or fortune but for love of country and for hope of a better, safer world," said Robert Silverthorn Jr., a member of the Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Parade Committee .

The Veterans Day tradition was restored in 2011 after an almost 60-year hiatus. Now, the event is a part of the Mayor’s Week of Valor , a series of events held around Veterans Day to honor and celebrate active-duty military members, veterans and their families.
