At least two people died in the Philippines as super typhoon Fung-wong lashed the central and eastern parts of the country. As reported by the global news agency Reuters, more than a million people evacuated vulnerable areas ahead of the typhoon’s landfall in Aurora Province in Luzon, the country’s most populous island.
The bodies of the two deceased persons were recovered by local authorities. Sources claimed one person drowned in Catanduanes, and the firefighters recovered the other person’s body from the debris of a collapsed home in Catbalogan City.
According to the Philippine state weather agency, the center of Fung-Wong made landfall over the town of Dinalungan in Aurora province at 1310 GMT.
