A railway worker who bravely stood up to the Huntingdon train attacker has woken up in hospital and spoken to his wife.
Samir Zitouni, 48, was stabbed several times on the LNER service, on November 1, as he tried to protect passengers onboard. He is said to have used a frying pan, from the buffet area on the Doncaster to London service, to shield travellers from the knifeman's blows .
Samir, known to many as Sam, was in a critical condition and left fighting for his life after tackling the attacker. But he is now in a stable condition and has been able to talk to his wife for the first time since the horror incident.
The hero regained consciousness on Thursday and has been making important steps in his road to recovery. Colleague Gemma Royce shared the major update
