When I was a child, my elderly neighbors stepped up in ways that changed my life. He sat with me and helped me learn to read when I was behind; she offered warmth, encouragement, and stability. They didn’t have to help — but they did. That simple act of care made a lifelong difference.
Now, I see that same truth play out in my work every day: When a community steps up, lives change.
We are living in a time of stunning potential to change lives in St. Louis County. For the first time, we have the knowledge to break cycles of childhood trauma.
