NEW YORK (PIX11) – Some New Yorkers have started to receive their November SNAP benefits amid the government shutdown, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul.

The future of the essential federal food aid is still uncertain. On Friday, Hochul directed state agencies to “fully fund SNAP benefits” for November. It came after a federal judge ordered President Donald Trump to fully fund SNAP.

Shortly after, the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the judge's decision, allowing the Trump administration to pause SNAP full payments.

It’s unclear how much money New Yorkers will receive during the ongoing battle for food aid. But some have already started receiving some SNAP benefits for the month, Hochul announced Sunday.
