(Gray News) - Former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue died Sunday morning, according to reports.

He was 84.

His family confirmed Tagliabue’s death to ESPN’s Adam Schefter .

“The apparent cause of death was heart failure complicated by Parkinson’s disease,” Schefter said in his post on X. “Survivors include his wife Chandler, son Drew, and daughter Emily.”

Tagliabue served as NFL Commissioner from 1989-2006. He was succeeded by current commissioner Roger Goodell in 2006.

Tagliabue is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Centennial Class. He received his gold jacked in 2021.
