NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - President Trump’s administration has told states not to pay full November food stamp benefits, revising its previous guidance after winning a temporary stay at the U.S. Supreme Court last Friday.

The new instructions came Saturday (Nov. 8) in a memo issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to state administrators of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps.

The agency instructed states to deliver no more than 65 percent of benefits as the federal government shutdown continue, and directed states that have already sent full payments to pull back that funding.
