The U.S. Department of Agriculture is demanding that states reverse full SNAP benefits that were issued under recent court orders.

"To the extent States sent full SNAP payment files for November 2025, this was unauthorized," Patrick Penn, deputy undersecretary of Agriculture, reportedly wrote to state SNAP directors on Sunday. "Accordingly, States must immediately undo any steps taken to issue full SNAP benefits for November 2025."
