Amidst all the gloom and doom that surrounds the UTEP football team, that inevitably engulfs any 2-7 football team, it's actually not hard to see positives.

In the last two games, culminating in the 30-27 last-minute heartbreak to Jacksonville State on Saturday , which followed the 33-20 loss to Kennesaw State in what may be the last Tuesday game UTEP plays in a while, the Miners took the two best teams in Conference USA to the wire.

The negative is obvious. UTEP hasn't learned how to finish, and nine games in to a 12-game season, that's who it is this year.

But what the Miners put on the field against Jacksonville State, particularly on offense, was far better than the unsightly productions they put on the Sun Bowl turf during that three-game home skid that tanked this season.
