JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) -A 32-year-old Parma Township man was arrested Friday on charges of first-degree child abuse and domestic assault following an investigation that began at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson.
Jackson County Sheriff Gary Schuette said deputies were sent to the hospital at approximately 10:47 a.m. on Nov. 7 for what appeared to be a sexual assault and domestic assault report.
Following an investigation, deputies conducted a search warrant in Parma Township and found the man inside a residence with a small child.
Deputies took the child into protective custody due to “obvious signs of neglect” and contacted Children’s Protective Services.
The child was transported to the University of Michigan Mott Children’s Hospital for medical treatment and remains hospitalized.
