DADE CITY, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol said 21-year-old Brandon man was killed after being involved in a "nearly head-on" collision in Dade City Saturday night.

The crash happened at around 6:45 p.m. on Blanton Road between a Hyundai Elantra and a Chevy Equinox traveling opposite directions.

The 21-year-old was driving the Hyundai, heading east. The Chevy was driven by a 28-year-old Zephyrhills man, FHP said.

East of Country Squire Lane, the speed limit on Blanton Road drops from 55 mph to 45 mph due to a large curve. The Hyundai driver failed to negotiate the curve and entered the westbound lane, striking the Chevy "nearly head-on," FHP said.
