A 3-year-old boy died Saturday after being found unresponsive in a pond behind his family’s Solon home, according to Solon Police.

Officers responded to a residence on Capilano Drive in the Signature I development after the boy’s 46-year-old father called to report his son missing, authorities said in a news release. Officers searched inside and around the house and found the boy in the pond shortly after their arrival.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures. Solon Fire Medics provided medical assistance and transported the boy to an area hospital, where he died.

The child’s parents were not home when the incident occurred but arrived shortly after officers. Other adult family members were watching the boy and a baby.
