The third day of flight cuts during the ongoing government shutdown has caused thousands of cancellations and delays, sending some travelers scrambling.
Flight tracking service Flightaware reported that by 1:30 p.m. ET, over 1,700 flights into, within or out of the country were already canceled for Sunday, Nov. 9, with over 5,000 delays nationwide. Airport staffing issues caused by the government shutdown have disrupted more than 4 million passengers since Oct. 1, according to the trade group Airlines for America, which represents passenger and cargo carriers.
