BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The Louisiana State Police is investigating after an 88-year-old man from Glynn was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Pointe Coupee Parish.

According to troopers, the crash happened around 12:30 p.m. on LA 416 near LA 981. LSP said that Joseph Bajoie was driving a 2005 Dodge 1500 pickup truck, heading west on the highway. For reasons still under investigation, the truck ran off the right side, then returned to the road before veering off the left side and hitting a tree.

Bajoie was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, according to LSP.

Troopers don’t suspect impairment, but they collected a toxicology sample for the investigation.
